On August 11, 2020, Meranda Vieyra, CEO of Denver Legal Marketing, appeared on the Colorado Bar Association’s podcast Gettin’ Legal With It to discuss what young lawyers in Denver can do to market themselves.
Meranda started the interview by explaining her entry into the legal profession, and how, while going to college, she began working part-time at her stepfather’s law firm at age 18. Working for several law firms over the years, she noticed a hole in the market for solo and small law firms decided to fill that void by starting Denver Legal Marketing to offer a unique marketing plan for each client.
In the interview, Meranda gave general marketing advice to young Colorado lawyers, covering how to build a personal brand, focus their practice on areas that they care about and want to serve, and ways to use the free and low cost resources available for promotion. She provided guidance on the use of social media such as Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn for lawyers to build their brand and stay in contact with their target audience.
Finally, Meranda outlined tips for marketing young lawyers at big law firms, showing the importance of personal branding within a larger law firm and targeting their internal branding toward the firm’s senior lawyers to help further their career. Her advice included deciding who they want to work with at the firm and making the firm look good through attention to detail and community service.
